2026 Eddy County Fair Queen Rules
(Please retain the Rules for your own personal reference and submit a signed copy with your application)
- Applicants must be a female, between 14-19 years old and unwed and neither currently pregnant nor have given birth.
- An applicant must be a current member of an Eddy County 4-H club, or FFA chapter and have at least one year of prior Eddy County Fair experience. (i.e., showing livestock, horse shows, indoor exhibits, etc.)
- The applicant cannot be a former crowned Eddy County Fair Queen or hold multiple queen titles in 2026-2027 Fair Season. (However, following the contest an applicant that is not crowned, is encouraged to run for other Fair Queen contests should she desire.)
- An applicant must always conduct herself to the upmost standard! Inappropriate conduct including social media accounts at any point will result in immediate termination from the contest and if currently crowned Queen, title will be removed, and runner up will take the Queen’s place.
- Social Media presence is encouraged based on agriculture and promoting the Eddy County Fair.
- No Public Displays of Affection will be tolerated!
- Dress Code- Any time an applicant is asked to be at a Fair Sponsored Event, applicant must be appropriately dressed in Show Ring attire.Jewelry and make-up kept to an appropriate amount. Hair can be styled however they would like but have it clean, tidy and pulled out of face.Boots are encouraged but not required, however, it’s ideal for feet to be covered. (NO tennis shoes) Clothing should cover body parts that aren’t typically shown (No midriff, underwear, spaghetti straps, bra straps or lines, etc.)Cowboy hats are allowed but not encouraged, it depends on what applicant is comfortable in. If you choose to wear a hat, make sure it’s pinned high enough that judges can see the applicant’s face, and sits comfortably on applicant’s head.
- All contestants will ride in the parade and participate during fair week by helping the current queen hand out ribbons and awards.There will be a sign up for the shows they are able to help with.
- The Eddy County Fair Queen Contest will take place on Saturday, July 18th, 2026 at 10:30am.
- The new Queen will be crowned during the awards ceremony on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 2:00pm.
- The newly crowned queen will begin her responsibilities immediately as an ambassador of the Fair and County. She will be responsible for being present at awards and Jr. Livestock Sale. The Queen is responsible for handing out awards, ribbons, and participating in the 2026/2027 Eddy County Fair, riding in parades, and at other functions requested by the Fair Board or Superintendent.
- Queen Contest- There will be a panel of 2-4 judges. Contestants will complete private interviews, a speech, modeling, impromptu questions and professionalism. Interview will be for 5-6 minutes with the judges.Impromptu questions will be on stage. The topic for your speech is: “What are you an advocate for in agriculture and how are you going to promote what you’re advocating for in Eddy County?”
